Work and Education

I am a full time photographer and sometimes videographer at the University of Calgary.

I also spent two wonderful years working with Fast Forward Weekly (FFWD) and Sophia Models International (formally Mode Models) in Calgary, Alberta.

I graduated from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT Polytechnic) with honours in Journalism Arts. I majored in photojournalism, a highly sought-after program that is limited to 16 seats per year. Along with photography, I also studied writing, marketing, and graphic design.

I love photography, film and animation. My other  interests include Linux, travel, and languages. I lived in the Czech Republic for five years where I learnt to speak my second language, Czech.

Awards

My work on the publication LAUNCH, which is given to graduating university students, won two gold awards at the 2011 Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District VIII Awards. One for ‘multi-page print design’ and a second for ‘alumni publication’.

I won the 2009 Canadian Community Newspaper Association’s (CCNA) best series award in the Better Newspapers Competition for “The Future of the Oilsands,” a three part series on Fort McMurray published in Fast Forward Weekly.

I also received a third place Association of Alternative Newsweeklies (AAN) award in the Editorial Layout category for “The Cinematic Sounds of Calgary’s Underground,” published in Fast Forward Weekly.
