July 25, 2015Riley, how are you! just checking out on your site since I’ve been kinda busy for a while, and find that you made your open source course. What a nice surprise! As soon as I have some money available count me in. I’m really interested, specially Darktable, that’s always been my kryptonite.
Anyway, I’m happy you are still are promoting open source as a viable way for photographers and not just only for amateurs and enthusiasts. This is what we all need. Thanks, see you soon, and hope you still remember me. Cheers.

July 26, 2015Hi Jorge,
It’s nice to hear from you again! I hope you’ve been well.
Yes, I finally finished my photography course :) There are so many courses, books and magazines for Adobe Photoshop/Lightroom users to purchase, but almost no courses for darktable, GIMP and other open source photography users. So I wanted to create a high quality collection of video tutorials for them.
It took over 10 months to record all the video tutorials and create all the art work. But, I think it was worth it. I am really happy with the results.
If you pick up a copy, let me know what you think when you are done. I think there is a lot of great information crammed into the course.

July 27, 2015Of course I’ll let you know. What I’ve seen so far is really well made and pretty clear and simple to understand. I’m asuming you did all that using also linux. It’s really great that you are doing this, really. Hope you sell a lot so that many people can benefit from your work.

July 27, 2015Yes, I was able to do everything in Linux:)
All the lesson planning, screencasting, video editing and web design was done in Linux using free, open source software. If you look at the credits page, I list the software I used: https://www.rileybrandt.com/foss-course-credits/
I don’t know if the course will sell very well. If it does, I will be able to take time off work to create more courses like it. I am just happy to provide Linux and FOSS photographers more tutorial options.
I hope you are still having fun with your own photography and blog!
