Back to School Fun
A tradition now 18 years strong, Fall Orientation Week is a rite of passage for all University of Calgary students and is their official welcome to the campus community. New students meet their fellow classmates and members of the campus community while participating in fun events.
An Astronaut and a Bucket of Water
Meanwhile, back at the University of Calgary… former astronaut and current university chancellor Robert Thirsk made a donation and accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Thirsk earned a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Calgary in 1976.
Linux Photography: Summer Days
I have spent so much time learning how to take good photos under hideous fluorescent lights and various low-light situations, I almost forgot how great it is to work with natural sunlight. I wanted to experiment with back-lit photos when the sun is low because it isn’t something I do often.
Convocation 2014
Whenever I see a university graduation ceremony in a movie, it is outside on a beautiful summer day. Unfortunately, a pitch black gymnasium and hallways filled with horrible florescent lights are the reality when I am taking photos during the week long convocation ceremonies at the University of Calgary every June.
